India Launches National Portal to Promotes AI among Schools

This is Intel India’s Initiative to promote Artificial Intelligence among institutions. On the Occasion of 2nd-anniversary tenure of the government, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad launched National AI Portal. The portal will work as a one-stop digital platform for AI development across the nation.

Portal will be used as a share Documents related to AI research, startups, investment funds in AI, Companies, and institutions. The portal is jointly developed by the Ministry of Electronics and IT and IT Industry. NASSCOM and National e-Governance Division of the Ministry of Electronics will jointly run this portal www.ai.gov.in

A National Youth Program has also been launched named “Responsible AI for Youth”. This youth program will help students to learn new relevant AI skills set and access to the required AI toolsets to develop others. The departments will reach out to state departments to nominate teachers as per eligibility criteria.

This National Programme is open for secondary level students class 8 to 12 from Central and state boards including KVS, NVS, and JNV. The program will start in a phase-wise manner. In the first phase, the State Education Dept. will nominate 10 teachers as per eligibility. There will be also an option to self nominate as per eligibility.

Students will attend online sessions on AI and get ideas about the portal. Students have to submit their ideas in 1 minute of a video explaining the proposed solution using AI.

The top 100 ideas will be shortlisted and students will be called for attending online sessions and boot camps. Students have to create real-time projects and submit the final solution in a video to the portal.

Lastly, 50 ideas will further shortlist and get invites for presentation. Further, independent committee of experts shortlist 20 innovative projects and provide opportunity to showcase at relevant platform.

National AI Portal “Responsible AI for Youth” aims to empower youth to become AI-ready with relevant skills and solve social impact problems.
