Instagram Is Testing Direct Messaging in Web Application

Instagram is testing direct messaging on the desktop and mobile web versions. The Screenshot captured and shared by an app researcher Jane Manchun Wong, on twitter. Now, you don’t have to rely on any third-party apps or extensions. Last year, Instagram brings dark mode on Android and iOS devices. Now, its testing the direct messaging on Web Application.

Currently, the Web version of Instagram is so minimal, you can’t even upload pictures properly. Still, it does not allow you to make video calls on Instagram. This awaited feature will change a lot of things as you can reply directly from your laptop on work.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, also said in an official tweet “Today we start to test Direct on the desktop web”.He also added Now, it’s only for small users, for now, hope to bring this to everyone. Direct on desktop and mobile web is being tested for a long time. But Instagram wants to assured about the correct implementation.

Test Direct Messaging on Desktop Web

Well, direct messaging on Instagram Web version is not official yet. Still you can try this hack to get DMs on Desktop web via laptop.

Open Instagram on Chrome or any other Web Browser. Go to ‘Inspect Element’ by Right cllick on screen or press ‘Ctrl+Shift+I’.

Now, Change the device from the ‘Toggle device toolbar’ option as select ‘Galaxy S5’ and refresh the webpage. You will see the Pop-up to add Instagram on Home screen and Direct symbol in Instagram. This is Instagram Web Application interface.Try out Direct messaging in dekstop web version.
