Jio is planning to launch an affordable 5G smartphone in India.The Indian Telecom giant has collaborated with tech giants Google. The collaboration is done for making a 5G smartphone with Google services.
Jio is targeting 20 to 30 crores users with 2G smartphones. Jio Chairman Mukesh Ambani said in the AGM event. “As India is standing at the doorsteps of the 5G era, we should accelerate the migration of 350 million Indians, who currently use a 2G feature phone, to an affordable smartphone”.
As per the report, Jio will be selling the upcoming Jio 5G phone at a price of less than Rs. 5,000 in India. The company is also planning to decrease the price of Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 3,000, once the production gets scaled.
A Reliance Jio official say to PTI, “Jio wants to bring the device for less than Rs 5,000. When we scale up the sales, it can be priced in the range of Rs 2,500-3,000”.
